The squirrel monkeys found on the central pacific coast of Costa Rica, also known as the Mono Titi, are highly endangered. There are only 1,700 of these primates left and their habitat is highly restricted.

To raise awareness about the plight of the Mono Titi, the Eco Preservation Society has produced a new documentary and is working on numerous conservation projects to help save the habitat of these amazing monkeys.

From Eco Preservation Society CEO Kevin Peterson:

“Our organization, the Eco Preservation Society is not only producing a
documentary on the subject, but we are bringing together groups for a
massive reforestation project that will create a new habitat for these monkeys.

We are working with The Phoenix Zoo, The Association for the Preservation of
the Mono Titi, Tree Bank Inc, Kids Saving the Rainforest and the Rainmaker
Conservation Project
.

The reforestation efforts have not been announced. ASCOMOTI has planted
25,000 trees, but we want to increase that by ten fold. At this time we want
to build interest in the documentary. It is our goal that the documentary will
create the awareness that will drive the funding for this ambitious
undertaking.”

    Hey there.

This is a good thing to be raising awareness for. Are people making any efforts to buy land to set aside for these little guys? You mention buying trees, but locking up the land is also a good idea.

Or to teach the local peoples some form of win-win method of farming/living?
