NEW BOOK TEACHES CHILDREN HOW TO POSITIVELY IMPACT THE ENVIRONMENT WITH CREATIVE, FUN CHARACTERS AND ILLUSTRATIONS
Andra Rozentals’ first children’s book, “It’s Easy Being Green,†features the adventures of a brother and sister and four unique and inspiring “vegetable†characters
CHICAGO, IL, December 12 2007 –/WORLD-WIRE/– Learning how to make a positive impact on the environment isn’t just for adults. But teaching children how to help the environment just became a lot easier - and more fun - with the release of a new children’s book, “It’s Easy Being Greenâ€. In the book, author Andra Rozentals uses colorful illustrations to demonstrate the simple steps that children can take to make a positive impact on their environment.
The book addresses the questions: Why plant trees? What is carbon dioxide? Why should we recycle? These questions posed by a group of backyard vegetables to the main characters, Larisa and Alex, set the brother and sister duo on a quest to discover what it means to be green.
Vegetable characters - Bushie Broccoli, Mushie Mushroom, Pepi Pepper and Crunchie Carrot - guide Larisa and Alex to explore how recycling, conserving electricity and carpooling can help protect the environment. To the delight of the backyard vegetable gang, Larisa and Alex learn to take action in order to reduce the effects of global warming. In becoming more mindful of how their actions affect the earth, Alex and Larisa learn that “It’s Easy Being Green.â€
“I was inspired to write “It’s Easy Being Green†due to the affect global warming is having on our planet,†Rozentals said. “I created the vegetable characters Bushie Broccoli, Mushie Mushroom, Pepi Pepper and Crunchie Carrot a few years ago, but they sat on the page waiting for a story to tell. After viewing the documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth,†the vegetable gang awoke from their slumber to show children the easy things they can do to make the world a little greener.â€
Rozentals lives in Chicago with her husband, Erik, and their son, Nikolas Brett. Nikolas is Andra’s first child, and he was born in the beginning of October just as Andra was completing “It’s Easy Being Green.†The book is available for purchase online from www.AndraRozentals.com.
