Protecting Our Environment .com Mission Statement
We would like to start by extending a most sincere thank you to those who have been our loyal readers for the past few years. You all have been integral in helping us build our site to the point it is at today. Thank you for everything that you do to help protect our environment.
We invite you to join us in creating the next chapter of the evolution of Protecting Our Environment.
We wanted to let you know that we are shifting our focus a bit. Now, from time to time, we will still be covering many of the topics we have in the past, but we have decided to primarily focus on a comprehensive discussion about responsible adventure tour and travel opportunities throughout the world. Read below for an idea about our new mission, and we look forward to seeing you around in the near future! Thank you again for your loyalty.
The earth provides us with everything, including the opportunity to responsibly enjoy the many adventures it offers us. From oceans to canyons; forests to deserts; tundra to coral reef; our world provides us with breathtaking beauty, serenity, and limitless options for activity.
We firmly believe that if we take care of the earth, it will take care of us. If we tread gently, we can enjoy all of the wonders it bestows upon us. Conversely, if we approach it with reckless abandon, we may one day no longer be able to experience its true glory.
In our modern, industrialized times, many of us have become so far removed from anything resembling true nature. We drive down paved streets, walk down concrete sidewalks, and otherwise live in unnatural surroundings. Have many of us forgotten what it is like to truly experience nature?
The mission of Protecting Our Environment is simple:
By highlighting responsible adventure tour and travel companies, locations, national parks, regions, and much more, we wish to encourage people who are thinking of taking a holiday to consider making the outdoors the centerpiece of the trip. Winter, summer, near, and far, we will strive to bring you information about all that the world has to offer. This will be a comprehensive and ongoing project, all with the following goal:
The more people experience the beauty and awe of the natural world, the more apt they will be to protect it.
It really is that simple. The more time we spend outdoors, the more and more we realize how amazing our world really is, and how we must do everything we can to slow down the destruction of it.
When done right, the protection and conservation of natural wilderness can be more economically viable than the plundering and pilfering of it simply for the extraction of natural resources. There are solutions, and it starts with all of us.
So let’s take a journey outside together.

How about doing a story on clothing and its heavy impact on the environment?Including people and animals.
I make one with the lightest footprint and it depresses me once a while to feel that while all the talk is on oil and emissions, everyone forgets the dirtiest industry of them all.

Trekking between unclimbed peaks.
Trekking in Bhutan is a unique experience unlike many of the more crowded treks offered in Asia. The variety of treks range from a simple three- day trek from the district of the Thimphu to Paro to the 28 days legendary Snowmen trek that takes veteran trekkers through some of the most exquite sports in the country. The Snowmen trek is also labeled the world’s toughest trek as it goes over 12- 14 mountains passes all of them over 4,500m -5, 000m.
Camping equipment, kitchen implements, food, are carried by packed animals. Porters are rather unusual in Bhutan with loads usually carted by horses or higher region by Yaks. For the walkers are most appropriate trekking times are mid March and mid September to beginning of November. There are how ever also trekking routes that are better suited the summer or winter.
Culture.
Culturally this country has no parallel. For many centuries the Himalaya isolated Bhutan so that its language, society and social customs developed with little external influence. The culture based purely on Buddhist philosophy. It is neither borrowed nor made in recent years, the roots of its existence are as old the existence of the land and people themselves. Nowhere is this better witness than in the Tshechu rituals. These festivals reenact Bhutanese history and religious lesions for successive generations, while providing great community enjoyment.
The people of Bhutan still live a primarily agrarian life. The country is largely populated by the three ethnic groups. In the Eastern areas, Sharchops predominate and are believed to be the earliest inhabitants. In the West you will fined Naglops of Tibetan descent and in the South many Nepalese who began settling in Bhutan in the 1900’s. The Bhutanese are warm friendly, peace loving, hard working and enjoy a great sense of humor.
Bhutan Dragon Adventures is licensed by Tourism Council of Bhutan under Ministry of Economic Affairs and is operated by the group of committed staff. We are always looking forward to offer you a great opportunity to explore our unexplored Buddhist country.

Please write or post about X’cacel, Quintana Roo, Mexico. It is a critical sea turtle nesting beach and Ramsar Site (no. 1351) is faced with destruction. There are two pieces of land at X’cacel that are not protected and one has been bought by a developer. The developer plans a large resort along the boundary line of Xcacel and the land the developer has bought does not have any beach access!!!! so naturally the lots of tourist (too many for the turtles) will be going on Xcacel to use the beach!
The Secretaria de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (Mexican EPA) is supposed to make a decision about the project.
Please help spread this information. At http://www.xcacel.org/ (Spanish) or http://xcacel.org/english/ (English) you can send an email to Juan Elvira, Secretario de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, who will be deciding Xcacel’s fate. Thanks, Mary Louise Whitlow

Hi Gina,
Can you share with your readers that only certified organic pet food claims are regulated and enforced by the government? All other (non-certified) organic claims aren’t and therefore aren’t verified by an unbiased 3rd party.
Also, Green Seal considers “organic certification of human and pet foods as the most credible claim, also in respect to any green claims.”
My company, Onesta Organics, is the first both certified organic and Green America-approved pet food manufacturer in the US.
